The students involved in the 5-Week School-to-Work Program were incredibly busy this summer!
They had an opportunity to visit and work out at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA, tour and learn about potential job opportunities at the Marcus Wehrenberg Movie Theater, as well as practice travel safety while riding the Connect Transit bus to Cold Stone!
New to the program this year was a comprehensive unit on food preparation. Students had a chance to learn about how food is produced at Epiphany Farms build a grocery list, visit Green Top Grocery and prepare pasta and chocolate chip cookies for lunch at Christ Lutheran Church.
To top it off, the students had a chance to learn about table etiquette at Biaggi's with the help of Class Act Etiquette.
The end of the program was spent focusing on professionalism, including writing resumes, reference lists, as well as interview practice at Illinois State University's Career Center. At the very end of the program, students celebrated their hard work by going to the St. Louis Zoo, in style thanks to Peoria Charter Coach!
