Physical Therapy

PT

Physical therapy (PT) works to enhance and restore mobility, functional competency, and independence for individuals with neurological, developmental, or orthopedic delays and/or disabilities. Our licensed physical therapists utilize individualized therapy plans to implement exercise and specialized techniques/devices to encourage independence at home, school, and in the community.

Through ongoing evaluation and treatment, our therapists focus on improving your child's muscle tone/strength, movement skills, and balance capabilities to support the acquisition of all postural and gross motor skills such as sitting, crawling, walking, running, and jumping. Physical Therapy services include evaluation and individual therapy across a variety of environments. Therapists work to support orthotics and equipment needs.

Therapies provided include:

  • Serial casting
  • Equipment fitting and support
  • Aquatics
  • Land-based therapy
  • Pelvic floor support

Meet Everett

Everett has a genetic condition that causes low muscle tone and balance concerns. When he first came to Lifelong Access, he could not walk or move for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. His family was worried about his ability to start school in the fall.

Within a few short months of physical therapy at Lifelong Access, Everett's balance increased to within average for his age range! He gained so much more confidence with walking, running, and jumping, and he can now play on the playground with his friends. At his last visit, Everett stood, walked, or moved for the entire 60 minutes of therapy! He is thriving in and out of school and has even started karate lessons.
