Direct Support Professional


Marcfirst is seeking qualified applicants who are passionate about serving their community and working with individuals with developmental disabilities

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are critical to the success of our Residential Program, as they provide a variety of services to adults with developmental disabilities. These supports are meant to increase independence and overall life fulfillment. As a DSP, you would be responsible for the following:

  • Building relationships and encouraging community participation
  • Personal care, such as bathing, changing, and toileting
  • Fostering skill-building and working towards residents’ individual goals
  • Other household tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and meal planning
  • Transporting residents to appointments, recreational events, and other outings

The following shift options are available to you:

  • Full-time - 2nd shift or overnight, 30-40 hours per week
  • Part-time - 1st and 2nd shift, 4-24 hours per week
  • Substitute - varies

What we require:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid IL Driver’s License, with driving record in good standing
  • Current automobile insurance
  • Ability to pass a state-required, 8th grade literacy test
  • General computer knowledge
  • A desire to make a real difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities
