Supported employment assists job seekers to obtain and maintain a career of their choosing with unlimited supports. Marcfirst’s supported employment program (SEP) offers job development and job facilitation (formerly known as job coaching). While the eventual goal of all SEP job seekers is independence in the job field, we understand that everyone’s timeline is different and provide SEP services as long as needed.
Services offered through Supported Employment:
Job Development: Once a job facilitator is assigned to a job seeker, they work one-on-one, either virtually or in-person, to expand those skills needed to search for, obtain, and maintain employment. Job seekers are assisted with completing job applications, resume development, and interviewing skills.
Job Facilitation: Job facilitators work individually with each job seeker. They assist with job matching and on-the-job training. Once a job is secured, job facilitators provide support to individuals at their places of employment and job analysis. This allows the job seeker and facilitator to get to know the policies and procedures of the business. Then, facilitators use systematic instruction and error correction on the job to teach the individual to complete each task the same way each time. This provides a way to track progress and prove success in gainful employment.
The SEP loves building relationships in the community and job matching individuals to those specific community partners.
Supported Employment Funding
Job seekers eligible for SEP must be 18 years old, may transition to the program the last six weeks of secondary school, and have documentation of disability from an IEP or psychological assessment within the past five years. All new job seekers must register through the Bloomington Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).
